In my last post I shared my story and how the past year had affected my life. I have made several changes and set goals for myself to move forward from the physical and emotional pain I have gone through. In this blog, I will be sharing my goals and what I have done to reform myself.
See a counselor: Your mental health is just as important as your physical health. I started seeing a counselor for my emotional pain and have found myself making visits even when there are no issues! I find comfort in talking to someone about my issues without the fear of being criticized.
Exercise: Spinning, yoga and meditation were my coping mechanisms. It allowed me to escape from reality and make time for myself.
QUIT Spinning: This was hard decision, but I had to listen to my body. I had to tell myself that this was not being lazy. My back pain was too much and I had to take care of myself.
Slowly Integrate Exercise Back into my Life: I have learned to slowly introduce exercise back into my life, but in no means setting a routine for myself just yet. I felt like this was setting me back as I started noticing some weight gain, but I had to remind myself that I could not jump back into it right away for the fear of causing more physical harm to my body.
Natural Health Care Alternatives: I truly believe in the benefits of natural health care, but I knew I had to listen to my body. I decided that it was time to consider the medical alternative and visit my doctor. I wish I had not waited so long as I ended up in the emergency room with Pneumonia the week before my scheduled appointment with my doctor.
Osteopathy: I cannot tell you how much this has helped with the pain in my back. I am still not back to any kind of work out routine as the Osteopath is trying to “train” my body to hold on to the changes that he is implementing in my body.
Communication: I started talking about my health issues to my friends and family. I have a huge support system that I truly wasn’t aware of.
I pray! Not as often as I should, but I pray.
Reading: I have read so many books this year, on every subject. It’s important to exercise your brain.
Priorities: I started going by a schedule and making time for what needs to be done in the day. Everything from our family’s wake up time to when I will spend time on this blog, it’s all scheduled!
Socialize: I have made sure to put effort into my social life to those who are important to me. I cannot explain it, other than it just feels good to be with those who make me laugh.
Moving Forward: I have a plan. I am a whole new person and I will never go back to where I was. I like the space I have created for myself; to grow and continue on this path. Physically, I would like to see my abs again… maybe by the end of the year…so I have a plan for that too! Stay tuned!
My Ten-Step Program: I am really excited to have the opportunity to work with Sharlene Styles from Pure Natural Health. You may have noticed her videos on my Facebook page on tips to live healthy naturally. I have been following these videos and meeting with Sharlene as she helps me transform my eating habits entirely. It’s not a full out cleanse, but a basic preparation for a cleanse. I hope you will continue to follow along on my journey. I am back, I am ready and I am getting healthy… again!
